Our Values and Goals
At Global Shipping Solution, “We care. We move. We deliver.”. These are our corporate values, and they are at the heart of everything we do. Our values tell a story of where we are coming from, define who we are, and guide us on our way forward. They steer the way we do business, inspire us, motivate us and, like an internal compass, help us find the right way – together.
Each of these values, “We care. We move. We deliver.”, builds on each other. None is more important than the other, and only by living each value can we bring them all to life. But there is a lot more to our values than just six short words.
Our values are not just connected to our behaviour and business, but also to our vision and mission. We set sail on our voyage to becoming “number one for quality” in 2018. We have a clear strategy that will help us get there, and our values are a guiding force that will enable us to implement this strategy in a lasting way.
At Hapag-Lloyd, we are “connecting the world across oceans”. This is our goal, and we believe that this is exactly what we have been doing all along – for more than 170 years. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, we connected people by transporting millions of emigrants to their new homelands. Today, we connect businesses, markets and economies. We facilitate global trade, boost the prosperity of countries and companies, and provide new possibilities wherever we operate.
Our greatest asset on this voyage are our roughly 13,000 employees around the globe. And what connects each of us are our common culture and values: “We care. We move. We deliver.”

Our Responsibility
As a global company, compliance with worldwide regulatory requirements and internal policies is fundamental to the way that we do business.
Hapag-Lloyd understands that we have a corporate responsibility towards our customers, employees, investors and the general public.
That’s why we have a global strategy for profitable growth, built around a single system of shared values and policies that guide our employees from day to day.
Our compliance organisation helps to embed these values throughout the company and ensures that our Compliance Programme is implemented globally.
Our Commitment
The Executive Board of Global Shipping Soluton has given its commitment to fair competition and compliance with all relevant national and international laws, especially in relation to corruption, bribery and price-fixing. These activities are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Any internal or external violations of applicable laws will not be tolerated, and will be subject to appropriate legal action.
Global Shipping Soluton has a Global Code of Ethics which clearly states the required standards of conduct. Every Hapag-Lloyd employee has read the Code and provided a written acknowledgement.
To prevent breaches, the Executive Board of Global Shipping Soluton has implemented a wide range of measures. These include a global Internal Control System (ICS), compliance training that is mandatory for all employees, and a localised whistleblower hotline, which enables employees to pass on information anonymously in their native language.
The Executive Board calls on any employees who become aware of any violations or suspicious behaviour to report these immediately to their supervisors, their local Compliance Officer, their Regional Compliance Officer or the central Compliance Department and Chief Compliance Officer. Unless involved in non-compliant actions, any employee who provides information about unlawful activities will not be disadvantaged as a result.
